I don’t know what triggered it, but I finally remembered where I had seen something similar to how Blair’s red robe flows out behind her when she’s running in chapter nine of Touch. I knew the robe overall was something I made up. The stiff deep curved neckline and wide sleeves of a kimono, but without any sort of sash, and the back? Long and styled in such a fashion that with a brisk step it would expand in this grand manner behind the person, powerful yet sensual, dangerous yet alluring.
And suddenly, for no reason, and from a film I have not re-watched in many years, I remembered where I’d seen a garment with such a dynamic! In Immortal Beloved- a movie that on the whole shaped much of the ‘cinematography style’ I see in my head when I’m writing. So between Emi-chan’s gorgeous drawing, an image of the back neckline of a kimono, and a couple of screen captures, can help you see a bit more what I saw in my head.
For reference, the dress can be found about 19 minutes into the film. We see her run up a staircase in it, as well as walk down a long hallway with it flowing out behind her. Just stunning!
