This was quite simply *my* Disney movie as a girl. Not for the ball, or the Prince, or the dress… but because she cleaned. YES, I’m weird, we know this. The idea that she got all that cleaning done that day? Girl’s got skillz. I appreciate her efficiency and organization.
But in a wave of nostalgia, I put in my DVD copy tonight (I watched this on VHS back in the day… :P ), and :sigh: twenty-something Kate came with me. Continuity error- when making the dress for her, the mice are seen adding and sewing in a lace collar… that is not there in the ‘final’ dress. And you never saw them take the sleeves off, either. -_-
And, ‘I’m so proud to live in Ohio, yet mortified at the same time’ tagged along for the ending, as well. For the restoration credits at the end, you see thanks to ‘The Library of Congress Motion Picture Conservation Center, Dayton, Ohio’ Oh sweet bejeezus, I can’t even watch a classic film and get away from this state. The disgusting thing is I know *why* that center is where it is. During WWII the Library of Congress dispersed many parts of its collection away from DC for protection (Did you know the Louvre did the same thing? Everything was taken into the French countryside before the Germans arrived- even the giant Winged Victory of Samothrace. And every single piece came back). One of these places was Wright Patterson Airforce Base… in Dayton.
