This is for the more analytical in our fanbase. While we know it to be true that the ratings have been nothing to boast about under Safran’s Humphrey Regime, here is a tangible reference point. Clearly displayed here is that Safran has destroyed the MOST important ‘ship’ in any TV show, irrespective of characters; viewerSHIP.
Without fail, all Humphrey-Regime-centric episodes have delivered significant drops in the ratings. However, the most notable drop (13.95%) occurred in the second episode back from the mid-season hiatus (The Father and the Bride) when fans realised that they were punished with an impossible God-pact storyline, a majority of screen-time devoted to an enabling Humphrey driving this ridiculous storyline; all into the leadup to a wedding that NO ONE wanted.
So if any BAN fans want to argue with me about people wanting their couple, I ask them to prove it mathematically.
Norman Buckley (Director, Gossip Girl) tweeted today that ratings lied and were not an indication of how good a program is. My response is that “good” is an objective measure, and therefore cannot be quantified. Sadly, in the land of TV; ratings matter.

You know what I’m quietly craving? The viewership stats for Monday’s episode. So many of us are *done* and boycotting the show, I just really really really REALLY want to see it show up on this chart. Then we can point and go, “See, THAT is where you jumped the shark. Congratulations.”
